Eagles Nest-Apache Fire Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This is a very easy loop in Red Rock State Park along and above a beautiful section of lower Oak Creek. Numerous intersecting trails can be used to create several different loops, or to return early."
--Bruce Grubbs, Best Loop Hikes Arizona (The Mountaineers Books).
Trails are well maintained and signs along the trail are clear and easy to understand. This was one of the better hikes we did in the Sedona area. Views are excellent. The only downside is the views of all the houses around the park.
The Eagles Nest Loop Trail located in the Red Rocks State Park was an astonishing hike rated easy to moderate. The hike through the riparian adjoining Oak Creek was pleasant and relaxing. We hiked up the Eagles Nest from North to South at the suggestion of the Park Ranger allowing us to face the breathtaking red rock formations and surrounding as we hiked both up and down the loop. The 360 degree views form the peak made the hike well worth it. We plan to do this again the next time we're in Sedona.
