This hike leads to the base of one of Sedona's predominant red rock formations. Coffee Pot Rock's unique sculptured shape simulates a percolator style coffee pot complete with a spout. The richly colored formation is visible from all over West Sedona. From the parking spaces, walk north past the gate, water tank and second gate. The unmarked trail curves around the east side of Sugarloaf Mountain towards the backside. Many spur trails will attempt to confuse you. Stay to the left along the base of Sugarloaf Mountain to its north side. The trail passes under utility poles to a clearing. Continue straight ahead. At all trail choices, and there are many, aim towards Coffee Pot Rock. The trail will lead to the base of the rock. You may partially circle the perimeter of Coffee Pot Rock.

One of the easier trails in Sedona. The views are great and for it being so close to town it still gives one the feeling of being remote

This is a review of this trail guide, which is out of date (1998?). It describes a trailhead with parking... if you look at Google Street View, there is now a private house in this location. I don't think they would appreciate you walking through their backyard.
