This is a good trail to the west rim of Oak Creek Canyon in the Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wilderness. It offers the best views of Oak Creek Canyon from any of the rim trails. It is a good, maintained trail, which turns sharply right and starts climbing to the northwest. The broad-leaved trees in the riparian habitat along the creek are soon left behind as the trail climbs through ponderosa pine forest. After a short distance, the trail begins switchbacking directly up the steep slope. The dry southwest exposure supports dense chaparral brush, and the view opens up as you climb. Just below the rim, the trail veers north in a long final switchback.

tough trail with great views of Oak Creek Canyon. Chilly weather with periodic snow showers. Be prepared for an uphill and then downhill experience. The view from the top is worth the sweat, but take plenty of water.
