Riverview Campground Professional Review and Guide
"The Gila Box National Riparian Conservation Area (NRCA) was designated in 1990, one of only two such areas in the nation. Gila River and Bonita Creek form a 35-mile corridor of rare and precious habitat filled with plant and animal life. Along the water, massive cottonwoods, broadleaved sycamores, and willow and walnut trees shade lush banks, rocky riffles, and sandy beaches. In the box, sheer cliffs rise above the river, exposed rock layers telling the tale of aeons of intermittent volcanic upheaval."
