Vineyard Trail marches straight up the slopes from Roosevelt Lake, passing through two eco~stems and a scattering of history to provide outstanding vistas of both the Tonto Basin to the east and the Four Peaks range to the west. You'll climb past the work camp that was active when the dam was built and head to the abandoned signal tower, then follow the ridgeline past the old vinryard site for which the trail was named. This route is part of the Arizona Trail, which runs from Mexico to Utah. OUTSTANDING FEATURES: Sweeping vistas of (in order) Lake Roosevelt, Roosevelt Dam, the Salt River Canyon, and the Four Peaks range; crumbling ruins; a reflector tower; Sonoran and transition eco-stems; and, in season, eagles and wildflowers.
