Granite Basin is Prescott’s “urban” outdoors area. Just 15 minutes away from the town square, the area offers more than 20 miles of interlocking singletrack loops. It’s a hidden gem for riding clubs from Phoenix and Flagstaff—while the neon Lycra crowd is swarming Sedona on the weekends, the smart ones are sneaking off to Granite Basin so they can have the trails to themselves. Besides awesome biking, Granite Basin is known for its excellent technical bouldering opportunities. While riding on the weekends, try to spy climbers scampering up the sheer mountainsides. Those interested in climbing should be aware that the area is closed from February through July so the peregrine falcons can nest undisturbed. Trail Surface: Singletrack.
