Bradshaw Mountains

Bradshaw Mountains Professional Review and Guide

"This drive passes through historic mining country dating back over 140 years. Drivers enjoy a beautiful mountain drive and many important obvious historic stops along the way, including Bumble Bee, Cleator and Crown King. Unfortunately, many subtle but important features can be missed simply due to ignorance.

Crown King Road is a wide gravel road suitable for passenger cars when dry. The road climbs rapidly as it nears the town of Crown King. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended for Senator Highway beyond Crown King where the road is rough and narrow."

We went on this trail today and it was a very scenic jeep trail. We passed about 20 different people and 5 jeeps on the way. It passes through the majestic Prescott National Forest with it's tall pine trees and small washes. In the beginning it is fun to pass through the railroad cuts in the mountains. As we passed through the pine forest we decided to stop and have lunch that we packed. There are a lot of different areas to stop along the way and camp. So, we will more than likely be back to set up camp some other time. All in all this was a great trail with spectacular views. I would rate this easy-moderate for a jeep or suv.
We took trail 37---it was our first time out and thought we would start with an easy trail. The scenery was beautiful and the trail was extremely easy----the map was perfect!
We take this trip several times a year. It is a beautiful drive, although take note there have been some winters that we haven't been able to get all the way to Crown King due to snow. When you get to Crown King there are several great restuarants - the burgers at the Mill are out of this world! As always travel AZ Smart - with plenty of water and supplies. Enjoy!
