The White Tank Mountains are a massive range, more in scale with the mighty Estrellas to the south than with the smaller North and South Mountain ranges. The mountains comprise the entire western border of the “Valley of the Sun” and host the White Tank Mountain Regional Park—the largest park in the Maricopa County park system at just over 41 square miles. Despite its size, the park is underdeveloped for mountain biking. The good news is, cyclists never have to deal with Lycra-clad crowds of weekend warriors. There’s also plenty of wildlife in the park, particularly the dangerous kind: Western diamondback rattlesnakes can get big and ornery. Trail Surface: Singletrack and a little bit of wider doubletrack.

When are they going to update this trail??? They have added a whole section that includes an awesome switchback climb followed by what I what I would consider a 2nd tech section on the backside of the mountainb and back to the trail. With this optional section added the total mileage of the trail is 7.2 miles, a nice 45 min to 1hr ride. I give 3 stars only becuase i'm not a huge fan of desert riding and would rather go up north
