Arizonans like to boast that we have more boats per capita than any other state. Whether this is true or not, you’ll believe it on a hot day at Lake Pleasant. If you can’t escape the valley entirely when it’s 100ºF in the shade, the next best thing is to find the nearest large body of water. For a lot of metropolitan Phoenix, this is it. In spring and fall, and even at the height of summer, you can expect the lake to be covered in boats and the shoreline dotted with people.
