This hike traces a segment of the historical Overland Trail just north of Sycamore Canyon. The route, marked with cairns and ribbons, follows the historical wagon road and railroad grade across the pinecovered mesa to end at the edge of Garland Prairie. You may do it as an out-and-back, combined with the Sycamore Rim Trail to form a loop, or as an easy car shuttle from Pomeroy Tanks to Dow Springs.
