Red Mountain Trail Professional Review and Guide
"There are many turns off the trail but generally the most used trail is the correct one; however, it pays to follow the directions closely. The trail initially passes through Buckskin Mountain State Park, but neither the trail nor the park are marked or signed in any way. Also, the trail is not shown in its entirety on the topographic maps of the region.
Special Attractions: Challenging trail through a rugged mountain range; Rockhounding around mine tailings dumps; Gray Eagle Mine. This trail is for experienced four-wheel drivers only. It is potentially dangerous, with large rocks, ruts, or terraces that may need to be negotiated. It may also have stream crossings at least 18 inches deep, involve rapid currents, unstable stream bottoms, or difficult access; steep slopes, loose surfaces, and narrow clearances; or very narrow sections of shelf road with steep drop-offs and potentially challenging road surfaces."
