Camelback Mountain is the tallest point in the city of Phoenix. From the 2,704-foot summit of Camelback, hikers command an impressive 360-degree panorama of the city and surrounding mountain ranges. The Cholla Trail offers hikers an easier, albeit longer, way to reach the top of Camelback Mountain than does the popular Summit (Echo Canyon) Trail (page 26). Fans of cityscape can appreciate the Cholla Trail for its open views along the way.

Great hike for intown PHX. More challenging than it looks. Some really steep inclines so be aware and bring plenty water.

Kicked my butt! Very challenging for an out of shape geezer new to hiking, however the view was worth the pain. Would not recommend weekend hike due to large number of people on the trail.

I give the hike only 2 stars because it's so darn crowded and people have absolutely no trail etiquette. If you're looking to do a peaceful trail, don't choose this one. There's plenty of others in the area. If you're looking to get a good workout for about an hour and a half this is perfect. The 360 views are great and I would recommend it to anyone staying in phoenix who wants to do a short hike and stay in the city

Very nice workout hike...very crowded on a Saturday afternoon...take a camera for chance photos of rainbows and shadows...this is a wonderful hike. Only took me 50 minutes to get up with about a 6 lbs on my back camera and water food... Totally recommend it for a workout routine...not very secluded...
