This is an especially scenic and remote loop around Powell Plateau along the Colorado River. Several permanent streams grace the route, including Thunder River, Shinumo Creek, and White Creek. You’ll spend days hiking along the Colorado River’s banks, or along the top of cliffs a few hundred feet above the Colorado River. The loop takes you through Middle Granite Gorge, Conquistador Aisle, Stephen Aisle, and Granite Gorge. You’ll find plenty of side canyons to explore, including Stone, Galloway, Bedrock, and Blacktail canyons. Pets are not allowed on trails or in the backcountry.
