Long and arduous, Passage 12 includes a steep ascent from the remote southern end at Romero Pass, a rolling traverse along the Wilderness of Rocks Trail, a short road section and resupply opportunity in the mountaintop community of Summerhaven, and a long haul down Oracle Ridge to historic American Flag Ranch. The section begins in the Pusch Ridge Wilderness, passes through a small community, skirts a historic mining area, and drops into ranching country. The expansive views in all directions from this sky island passage, especially from Oracle Ridge, are astounding.
