Less-visited country is the main attraction of this hike in the southern Mazatzal Wilderness. You’ll also hike through stands of Arizona cypress, an uncommon tree that grows mainly in the mountains of central Arizona. Arizona cypress is easy to spot— the small, slender tree commonly grows to about 30 feet and features reddish, curling bark. A seasonal spring and views of much of the southwestern portion of the wilderness top off the hike.
