Go John Trail is one of the best moderate loop trails you can hope for. Scenic hills surround the Cave Creek Recreation Area, and the undulating hike contains just enough ups and downs to keep you on your toes.

The trail was great, but getting there was another story. It took me over an hour to travel the 10 miles from the highway to the trailhead. I was driving early in the morning as well, so every time the road turned east, the sun destroyed my vision. I almost drove off enormous sheer drops several times. As for the trail, it offered a beautiful view and I didn't see another soul the whole time.

The trail was not a heavely traveled which added to the excitement. Once you turned off the Mazatzal Divide Trail there was not trail it was just a treak through the woods and rocks but not hard to follow the ridge to the summit. Well worth the hike. Came across a black bear just after the parking lot which was a surprise. I didn't expect a bear that close to Phoenix.
