North Rim Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Arizona abounds with great spots to pitch a tent, but for solitude and sheer, stunning beauty, nothing beats the north rim of the Grand Canyon. The North Rim is the less-known, less-popular, harder-to-reach, but just-as-spectacular way to view America’s most famous natural wonder. Of the 5 million people who visit the Grand Canyon every year, 90 percent go to the South Rim and see the canyon from the overlooks. The North Rim sees far fewer visitors, with places to camp where you might even have the grandeur of the grandest canyon all to yourself.
There’s one developed campground inside the park, with 83 tent and RV sites located right on the rim, plus a lodge with cabins for rent. Both the lodge and campground fill up during summer, especially on weekends, so reservations are highly recommended. Only a few premium sites have a view of the canyon, so when booking, try to get sites 10, 11, 14 through 16, 18, or group site 2."
