Beyond the Indian Garden rest facilities, you pass the campground and a ranger station. The trail is lined with tall Engelmann prickly pear cacti—a beautiful garden of color in spring when some plants display yellow flowers and others are pink. Cacti are amazing for their ability to produce such large showy flowers in a desert environment. Next you crisscross up a usually dry wash that can be dangerous in times of heavy rain.
