Grand Canyon: Inner Gorge Professional Review and Guide
"Through the high Kaibab Plateau in northern Arizona, the Colorado River has carved a canyon 277 miles long. It took approximately 6 million years to create this mile-deep canyon, and the result is a masterpiece of stone. Many people consider this passage the crown jewel of the Arizona National Scenic Trail (AZT). Nowhere else in the country does a few hours’ walk take you through 2 billion years of geologic history. Photographs and words cannot capture the massive scale of the Grand Canyon. The relatively few individuals who physically traverse the canyon, feeling each foot of elevation loss and gain in their legs and lungs, are the only ones who can have a real sense of the grandeur of this place."
