Remote and rather small, with limited hiking opportunities, the Mount Trumbull Wilderness in the Uinkaret Mountains at the southern end of the Uinkaret Plateau is one of Arizona’s seldom-visited wilderness areas. And that may be one of its charms. Like much of the backcountry on the Arizona Strip, north of the Grand Canyon, getting to the Mount Trumbull Wilderness takes some doing. But once there, you may just have it to yourself, all 7,880 acres of it.
