Secret Mountain Trail

Secret Mountain Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This trail wanders out onto Secret Mountain, an isolated mesa in the Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wilderness. It features a historic cabin and some good views of the canyons in the wilderness area.

The trailhead is on the edge of the Mogollon Rim, but the view is mostly blocked by the bulk of Secret Mountain rising to the south. There is unlimited camping along the trail, so it makes a pleasant, easy overnight backpack trip if one is willing to carry water for a dry camp."

"This trail into the Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wilderness is a remote and beautiful forest jaunt, open to hiking and horseback riding only. Leashes are required here, so water and leash your dog at the trailhead. Pack in plenty of water also, since this trail is typically dry in between snowmelt and rains."
