Lockett Meadow

Lockett Meadow Professional Review and Guide

"A great place to escape for an afternoon picnic or weekend campout. Hike and mountain bike on the Inner Basin Trail. This is a favorite spot for artists and photographers, especially in the spring when flowers are blooming or fall when the leaves are changing. Contact the Peaks Ranger Station in Flagstaff for information. A dusty gravel road with minor steep sections. The road climbs over 1,300 feet to an elevation over 8,600 feet. Low-slung passenger cars and long RVs should avoid this road.

Reset your odometer as you turn left off Highway 89 [01]. Head west and turn right at T at 0.5 miles. Turn left at 1.1 miles following signs to Lockett Meadow. Turn right at 1.7 miles [02] and head uphill. Seasonal gate will be closed during the winter. The road climbs up the mountain with some nice views along the way. Watch for ATVs and dune
buggies around blind curves."
