This ride is about 20 miles northwest of Flagstaff at the base of Kendrick Mountain. It is a long, scenic cruise around the fourth highest mountain in the state. There are deep ruts on sections of the doubletrack. The ride skirts the Kendrick Mountain Wilderness on roads; trails in the wilderness area are closed to bicycles. From Flagstaff, drive north on U.S. Highway 180, passing the turnoff to the Arizona Snowbowl Ski Area about 7 miles from town. Continue 10 more miles, then turn left on Forest Road193, a maintained dirt road signed for Kendrick Peak. Go 1.8 miles and park where a doubletrack, FR 9020A, joins the main road from the right. Kendrick Peak is visible to the northwest.
