This short but strenuous hike loops up and down the face of Mount Elden, offering views of eastern Flagstaff. It presents a case study in the aftermath of a forest fire, as well as close encounters with volcanic geology. One such encounter is a squeeze between two boulders that lends the hike its name. The trail also provides a bit of a workout. These factors and the hike’s proximity to town make it quite popular with the locals.
