Arizona Trail on the Walnut Canyon Rim Professional Review and Guide
"This long and scenic hike follows a section of the Arizona Trail along the north rim of Walnut Canyon. Scheduled for completion in 2001, the route of the Arizona Trail passes through some of the best scenery and remotest wilderness in the state. This hike follows a finished section of the Arizona Trail, which when complete will cross the entire state from Utah to Mexico. Parts of the trail follow old roads, while other sections are new trail construction. Cliff dwellings and artifacts, relics of the Sinagua people who thrived in this area around a thousand years ago, are common in Walnut Canyon. The canyon provided protection from enemies, as well as shelter from the worst of the summer heat and winter weather."
