A backpack from Rucker Canyon to the Chiricahua Crest trail. As the path ascends the wooded canyon, startling towers of buff-colored stone can be glimpsed through branches of evergreen oaks. These stone pillars are scattered across the surrounding slopes like broken teeth, and they watch over travelers during the entire ascent of the Bear Canyon bottoms. Upon reaching the head of the canyon, the path zigzags up its eastern wall, offering vistas of the surrounding pinnacles as well as a broad panorama of distant ranges to the southwest.
