Indian Spring / West Fork Professional Review and Guide
"The Indian Spring Trail 627 was built by the Forest Service in the mid-1990s with mountain bikes in mind. The trail is immaculately groomed, with shallow berms on the turns and fun little hops here and there. However, hikers still use it (but not equestrians), so keep speeds in check. Indian Spring begins with a shallow climb alongside Big Lake Knoll, a hill that overlooks nearby Big Lake. There’s a short side trip about a half-mile from the start of the ride that you can hike to reach the Big Lake lookout tower. The trail up isn’t really bikeable; either leave your bike at the gate to the side trail, or plan on carrying it up. You can go up the lookout tower for some incredible views of Big Lake and the surrounding mountains, but ask the tower’s attendant first. Trail Surface: Singletrack and Rails-To-Trails conversion."
