The Indian Spring Trail loops through the highlands adjacent to Big Lake, a recreational lake to the northwest. Once beautifully forested, this region was adversely affected by the 538,000-acre Wallow Fire in 2011. Some pockets of unburned timber remain, but much of the Indian Spring Trail was burned over. Nevertheless, the hike is still a pleasure. Scenery abounds, a pair of springs await hikers, and forest succession has already begun.
