Rucker Canyon Professional Review and Guide
"A trail and cross-country walk along lower Rucker Canyon in the Chiricahua Wilderness in the Chiricahua Mountains. Here, beside the musical stream, it’s easy to imagine that modern civilization does not exist, and that an Apache warrior may glide into view at any moment. The wilderness seems complete, and there are tantalizing views of the crags and forested peaks of upper Rucker Canyon. The Rucker Canyon Trail starts from the east end of the campground, following Rucker Creek upstream to the east through the shady pine forest. At 2.5 miles, the trail abruptly climbs out of the canyon via a series of switchbacks.Leave the trail here and continue up the canyon, following the stream. After 0.3 mile, the canyon turns north and becomes much rougher. This secluded spot is our destination."
