Honeymoon Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Picture the proud groom and blushing bride (hopefully no longer in trousseau), rattling up and down precipitous mountain curves and fording cold running streams, headed for the middle of nowhere to celebrate their wedding night to the music of wind-rushed leaves and murmuring water. Apparently, that was one forest ranger’s idea of the perfect honeymoon. If you agree, follow the ribbon of Upper Eagle Creek as it winds its way through the White Mountains to find this tiny gem of a campground. From Clifton, take the Devil’s Highway (the Coronado Trail) north to Forest Road 217. The campground is open year-round, but the Forest Service indicates its season is May through September. Be prepared for afternoon rainstorms July through September and high water during the spring snowmelt. Fall is a particularly nice time to visit, when the maples and sycamores turn crimson and gold."
