This is a challenging hike on rarely used trails in the Cedar Bench Wilderness. It is a remote area with fine views of the Verde River canyon. The trail is rocky, and some sections are brushy—allow extra time. You should have good route finding and map reading skills before attempting this hike. The reward for your efforts is a continuously changing view of the rugged Verde River canyon, the Mogollon Rim, and in the distance, San Francisco Mountain and the Mazatzal Mountains.
