Dotted with breathtaking views of Piestewa Peak and Camelback Mountain, Quartz Ridge Trail offers yet another scenic jaunt through the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Though it sits in the middle of the city, this trail traverses many secluded desert basins where you get a real sense of wilderness.

A "must do" for any hiker visiting Phoenix. It is a glorified staircase so to speak, but the hike is worth the satisfying views of the Valley of the Sun. Viewing the peak from a distance it is difficult to believe you can hike to the summit as easy as you can (with a short scramble at the very peak). Definitely bring water & hike early in the summer - and bring a dose of patience when it's busy because the trail does get crowded at times.

Basically just a 1200 foot staircase. Gorgeous view from the peak makes it worthwhile though. Very unique rock formations make for an interesting hike. Bring a lot of water though! Not as hard as Camelback.
