This trail is a treat for the owner and for the dog. From the trailhead you see a lot of open desert, but then the trail takes you back to a cool shaded canyon and down to the Colorado River, where dogs can swim and enjoy the water. Under foot and paw: Gravel and rock.

The trail is fantastic but walking in the gravel back up makes for a real workout. Be sure to continue on to the hot pools once you get down to the river.
