Traveling the entire trail is 0.6 miles with a total elevation gain of 310 feet. Cottonwood Spring, Upper Sardine Spring, Fry Spring, Deerhead Spring, Roughout Spring, McBride Spring, Upper Cove Creek Spring, Mud Spring, Upper Cottonwood Spring, and other springs and the Saltground Tank (elevation 5,528 feet), Prieto Plateau Tank (elevation 6,214 feet), Cotton Tank (elevation 6,444 feet), and Wing Tank (elevation 6,368 feet) reservoirs can be seen along the trail. The trail ends near the H L Spring and Lower Cottonwood Spring and the Halfmile Tank (elevation 5,597 feet) and Deerhead Ranch Tanks (elevation 5,600 feet) reservoirs.
