Starting from the remote Miles Trailhead on the east side of the Superstition Mountains, this loop follows the West Pinto Trail up West Pinto Creek, over the slopes of Iron Mountain, and along a section of the Arizona Trail on a high, scenic ridge. Return is via the Rock Creek Trail. For a while the trail stays on the south side of the canyon, then it descends to the creek where there is seasonal water. After a section along the creek, the West Pinto Trail climbs onto the north slopes of the canyon. The trail returns to the creek again, only to leave it for a last time and climb steeply west up a brushy ridge. The trail reaches the east shoulder of Iron Mountain, then descends to Iron Mountain Spring before climbing again to cross a pass on the south ridge of Iron Mountain. Descending steeply, the trail passes Rogers Spring, then ends at the Reavis Trail, 5.8 miles from the Spencer Spring Trail.
