West Boulder Canyon Professional Review and Guide
"A combined cross-country and on-trail hike through remote and seldom-visited country in the western Superstition Mountains. Route-finding skills and the USGS topographic maps are required for this demanding off-trail hike. All of the cross-country travel is on the first half of the loop, and the return is on well-graded trails. Start by hiking 1.9 miles up the Peralta Trail to Fremont Saddle, then strike off cross-country to the southwest. Your goal is to work your way through the “stone ghosts” to the top of the ridge to the southwest, then down to the saddle at the head of West Boulder Canyon at 2.6 miles. This is complex country, and you’ll need to use the USGS topographic map to find the saddle."
