This hike crosses Black Mesa and passes through Garden Valley on its way to Boulder Canyon, a major drainage in the western portion of the Superstition Mountains. Second Water Spring, a typical seasonal desert spring, is located just off the trail near its end. Boulder Canyon itself may be bone dry, especially during summer and late fall, or may be a flowing stream during periods of wet winter weather.
