KP Creek Professional Review and Guide
"This is a difficult backpack trip along the Mogollon Rim and alpine creeks in the Blue Range Primitive Area. Start the loop hike on Trail 315, which heads east along the north rim of KP Creek. Although the trail closely follows the rim of the deep canyon containing KP Creek, views are limited in the dense spruce-fir-aspen forest. At 2.0 miles, turn left on Trail 73. A short descent to the northwest leads through a meadow at the head of an unnamed tributary of Grant Creek. After a short climb to a saddle, the trail turns more to the north and crosses two more tributaries; the second of these contains another nice meadow and Willow Spring. This trail works its way east along the forested ridge south of Hannagan Creek, passing Trail 326 (a short spur to Arizona 191), and then meeting Trail 75 at P Bar Lake, at 8.3 miles. Turn right on Trail 75 and follow it down a steep descent in a side canyon to the south. The descent moderates at 9.3 miles; turn right on Trail 306 and follow it south and down to Grant Creek. Notice how ponderosa pines are now the dominant trees, at this lower and drier elevation."
