This stunning and varied mountain bike tour can be ridden as either a 19-mile point-to-point trip between Richland Creek Campground in the Ozark National Forest and Woolum Ford on the Buffalo National River, or as a 40-mile loop. It shows you a little of everything that is attractive about northwest, Arkansas. Your ride will traverse high mountains, drop down into farm valleys, and cross the Buffalo National River, one of the most scenic streams in the Ozarks. Because the entire ride is on roads, it requires no technical bike handling skills. It does require you to be in good physical condition, though. Passing through the mountainous terrain of the Boston Escarpment, you'll find yourself in a land of long climbs and exhilarating descents. The payoff for the climbs is the scenery. This trail is located 30 miles southeast of Harrison.

Summer can be hot and humid, but 3 crossings of Richland Creek and a possible crossing of the Buffalo will cool you off. The many ridge-top vistas on the loop are more spectacular during winter when the foliage is gone, but
