Upper White River: St. Paul to AR 74 Professional Review and Guide
"The White River rises in the Ozark National Forest near Boston, Arkansas, and flows along AR 16 until it is impounded at Lake Sequoyah near Fayetteville. The river’s upper stretches flow through small shoals and willow jungles that present little difficulty to experienced paddlers. The speed of the current slows as the stream approaches the lake. The landscape that surrounds the stream is more open due to the proximity of AR 16, and this diminishes the wilderness scenery slightly. Water quality on the Upper White is on par with most Ozark streams."
