North Sylamore Trail

North Sylamore Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This trail follows the pristine waters of North Sylamore Creek and passes through a wide variety of scenery, from creek bottoms to mighty bluffs.

Follow the fence until it ends and then turn left and cross North Sylamore Creek on large, flat rocks. The trail, which is well marked with hiking symbols on posts, features wet-weather waterfalls and impressive bluffs. Signs show the way at road intersections and access points."

Great hiking trail, we hike it every year. Tremendous color in the fall with several pretty views down into the creek valley. We plan to backpack it this spring. I want to see it without the foliage. For the most part it's an easy hike but well worth it. Gunners pool area is my favorite especially for camping but mirror lake at Blanchard Springs is beautiful with turquoise water. I took pictures of a family of otters in the lake last fall. I highly recommend this trail any time of year. DeWayne C

The recent flood in the area made some areas of the trail a bit rough. We hiked parts of all three sections. Frequent log jams, downed trees and trail washed out in parts. Didn't stay all night at all because the weather was stormy with tornado watches. Just did three day hikes. However, it is still a wonderful hike and the area still beautiful.

Beautiful Trail. This trial is great for hiking or trail running. The trail begins in Allison Ark. and crosses the sylamore creek( The crossing can be ankle to waist high depending on the time of year you go.) in the first few hundred yards from the trail head. It runs between 3 main campgrounds (Blanchard Springs, Gunner Pool and Barkshed). It is about 5 miles between each of the campgrounds. With Barkshed being the most primative of the threes. The trail is well maintained year round.
