"A 54-mile winding highway atop the crest of the Ouachita Mountains. The Talimena Scenic Byway crosses the Ouachita Mountains, the highest range between the Appalachians and the Rockies. The byway route varies in elevation from 1,150 to 2,681 feet as it travels the crest of Rich Mountain and Winding Stair Mountain.
