The Little Missouri, a designated wild and scenic river, passes through country that to many is the most beautiful in Arkansas. The Little Missouri Trail is a 15.4-mile point-to-point route that follows the river, crossing it eight times. Marked with white blazes, the trail was built in the late 1980s and early 1990s by high school student volunteers. Its surface is almost all single-track, with a few sections on old abandoned roads. White you'll encounter few long climbs along the route, numerous rocky, technical sections and short, steep ascents are scattered along the trail, making it difficult for beginners. Though it's tough in places, the Little Missouri Trail offers rewards in every mile of its length- splashing streams crossings, waterfalls and cascades, pools filled with floating leaves, long level stretches of pedaling next to the stream, rocky bluffs towering over clear swimming holes and climbs to the shoulders of hills above the river, where you'll admire the Little Missouri below. This trail is located 60 miles southwest of Hot Springs.

Season: Spring and fall are the best times to ride this trail, but with numerous opportunities to take a dip in the river, summer can be quite fun, too. Fun ride, Albert Pike Campground is all shut down from the 7/'10 flood. I had to park on the far north side of the campground on a gravel pull-out.

This trail meanders parallel to the main road connecting Little Missouri Falls and the Albert Pike Campground. 90% flat hardpack with a few water crossings. Fun trail to just hammer. There are several other trails in teh area as well. This is one of the best places to camp also.
