The Mill Creek ATV Trails meander up, over, and through some of the most remote and scenic areas of the Ozark National Forest. This 42-mile trail system consists of a main loop of 27 miles interlaced with 15 miles of interior loops and connectors, giving you enough riding options for several days of wandering in the woods. The entire trail system follows ATV double-track. Parts of the trail will be muddy after rains, and many of the climbs are covered with loose rocks from spinning ATV tires, making them very technical. Six or seven really long, challenging climbs are in the network, along with numerous shorter ascents and descents. Don't come here if you don't want a workout. These trails are located 35 miles southeast of Fayetteville.

I explored almost all the official trails on my dualsport motorcycle. That is all 27 miles of outer loop A, about 75% of inner loop B and 2 of the 4 connector trails. The variety of trails and scenery were excellent. I'm glad I had this trail guide with me--it is very thorough and seemed accurate. Even on a Saturday, we only ran into 3 other groups out on the trails. I even spotted a black bear briefly before he scurried off into the woods. One thing I'll mention is that although the trail guide is aimed at the mountain bike crowd, in my opinion, much of these trails are unrideable on a bike. Of course, I'm not as hard-core with a mountain bike as some, but with the grade, the size of the rocks, etc, I'd be carrying my bike up a most of the climbs and end up over the handlebars on many of the descents. There are some sections that would be fantastic on a bike, though. For lunch, be sure to head up north of the trails to Combs, AR. There is a tiny gas station/store/cafe. Good eats and plenty of local charm.
