This is a great bird-watcher’s trail, looping through field and forest along the lakeshore. Ancient oaks and marshy coves make this trail a prime spot for watching the many different bird species found in the park. A wildlife-viewing station provides a good place to stop and look. Chances of seeing a particular species depend on the time of year and the bird’s appropriate habitat; i.e., where it would most likely be found—meadow, forest, marsh, or lake. Besides the Eastern bluebird, cardinals, and summer tanagers, birds with odder sounding names are also commonly seen here— the American coot, chick-will’s-widow, and the bufflehead diving duck.
