The headwaters for Osage Creek are north of the Ponca Wilderness near Compton, Arkansas. It flows many miles before the access at AR 21. There are some exciting stretches in the upper section during periods of heavy rain, but the route described here is a class I with great fishing possibilities. Osage Creek merges into the King’s River just upstream of the US 62 Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Access. Paddlers can expect good scenery and a good current. The only hazards are from trees and willows. The scenery is beautiful, and you will rarely see another boat. This is a great section for testing your fly-fishing skills. Check with King’s River Outfitters for water levels and shuttle information.
