South Fourche Lafave River: Hollis To Deberrie Professional Review and Guide
"The headwaters of the South Fourche Lafave River are near Bear Head Mountain just west of Onyx, Arkansas. The South Fourche Lafave River flows generally east to its confluence with the Fourche Lafave River near Aplin, Arkansas, a distance of approximately 40 miles. The river flows along the base of the mountains rather than cutting abruptly through the mountains. The drop is less dramatic than you find on some of the other Ouachita streams in the area. The section to paddle is from Hollis to the community of Deberrie near Aplin. This section can be divided into three parts. The first is a fun class I–II stream with good current separated by a few pools. The middle stretch is a small gorge area with several class II+ rapids, and in the final section the pace slows through several long pools separated by class I and II drops."
