Choctawhatchee River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Choctawhatchee River ?ows more than 170 miles from its headwaters in Barbour County, Alabama, to Choctawhatchee Bay near Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The third-largest river in Florida in terms of water volume discharge, the river ?ows for 96 miles in the Sunshine State. Together with the 50 ?oatable miles in Alabama, paddlers wanting a long adventure can have a great camping trip on the Choctawhatchee.

Additionally, day-trippers can tour differing sections of the river that deliver a variety of experiences over its entire length. Improved accesses in Alabama and Florida make adventures on the Choctawhatchee even easier to execute. In addition, much of the riverbanks in Florida, more than 57,000 acres altogether, are publicly held as part of the Choctawhatchee Wildlife Management Area, comanaged with Northwest Florida Water Management District."
