Cheaha State Park Bald Rock and Pulpit Rock

Delta, Alabama

Cheaha State Park: Bald Rock & Pulpit Rock Professional Review and Guide

"Everyone needs to make a pilgrimage to the highest point in Alabama: Mount Cheaha’s peak, in Cheaha State Park. Climb the stone observation tower, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, for a 360-degree view. Take advantage of short hikes to Pulpit Rock or Bald Rock to get to mountain’s edge.

It can be crowded, but it’s worth it to see the fall leaves. Head to the mountains and cool off in the summer. A nice intro to the outdoors, the state park can also be a staging ground for more hiking and waterfall pilgrimages in the surrounding Talladega National Forest and Cheaha Wilderness."

Best hike for the distance, that I have ever experienced. After 2 days of backpacking, I visited Alabama's highest point, with my dog Zeta. I saw the sign for the trail and thought why not...well what was about to be discovered was a very short walk/hike to an amazing view. Turkey Buzzards rode on the uprising currents of air without having to flap their wings but once in 5 minutes. Free ride, I guess. Once the sun sets, you have plenty of light to get back to the parking lot. AWESOME!
