"Ketchikan is Alaska’s southernmost major city and is reputedly the wettest spot in Alaska, with an average 165 inches of rain each year. Totem poles, salmon, and nearby Misty Fjords National Monument make it famous.

Ketchikan, the fourth-largest city in Alaska, is one of the centers of the salmon industry. This eTrail is one complete vacation written with families in mind. The Inside Passage area of Alaska is breathtaking. With only a limited amount of time to see as much of this region as possible, I took an Inside Passage cruise that left from Seattle and stopped in Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway. This towns are all beautiful, and I hope to be able to visit them another time in a way that lets me spend more time at each. I scheduled activities in each port to be able to experience as much as possible in a short period of time. From viewing Mendenhall Glacier and going whale watching in Juneau to setting out on a backcountry jeep & canoe safari tour through the Tongrass National Forest in Ketchikan, I was incredibly impressed with the unique beauty of this area. It’s definitely an incredible place to visit.
